Consultations:

All patients will meet with our injection specialist to determine your aesthetic treatment plan and to consider your options as mapped out for you. Complimentary consultations can be with or without your same day treatment.

How to prepare for your treatment:

Two weeks prior to appointment, stop any medications (unless instructed by your physician to not) that increase the chances of bleeding ie. Aspirin, ibuprofen (motrin, aleve, advil), Excedrin, naproxen, fish oil, vitamin e, krill oil, ginseng, st johns wort, gingko biloba

If you are currently taking any prescribed medications that affect blood clotting such as Plavix, warfarin (Coumadin) etc please discuss with us prior to your appointment.

Eating fresh pineapple the week before and the week after injections (cannot be canned or frozen) can help with healing.

To help heal faster and decrease bruising consider taking the herbal supplement arnica montana starting 2 days before treatment and for a total of 5 days.

Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior to treatment.

We offer a complimentary Vitamin D injection with all fillers to help reduce inflammation.

If any of the following apply to you, please call us to reschedule within 48 hours of your appointment:

  • Pregnant/Nursing
  • Flu shot or any other vaccinations planned 2 weeks before or after appointment
  • Dental cleaning or dental work within 2 weeks before or after appointment.
  • Active skin infection
  • Active whiteheads in the desired dermal filler treatment area.
  • Active flare of autoimmune disease.
  • Any active bacterial or viral body or blood infections
  • Active herpes simplex infection (cold sores).
  • Steroid or other immunosuppressive treatments (remicade/methotrexate) within 2 weeks of planned cosmetic procedure.
  • Antibiotic for any reason within 2 weeks of appointment.
  • Any current or recent upper respiratory or sinus infection
  • Previous adverse reaction to dermal fillers (granulomas, allergic reactions, nodules, vascular complications, scaring)
  • Autoimmune diseases, particularly those pertaining to collagen (scleroderma)
  • Coumadin/Warfarin/Eliquis/Pradaxa/Xarelto

Some of these are contraindications and others are considerations however all will need to be discussed with your provider prior to treatment.

What to expect after your treatment:

  • Swelling, tenderness, bruising, unevenness, lumps/bumps are all normal after treatment for up to two weeks.
  • Please contact us if your treated area starts to swell excessively (angioedema) or if the skin treated has lost color (white/bluish)
  • Swelling will last 24-96 hours
  • Bruising can last for up to two weeks but is typically resolving by days 5-7
  • Redness lasts 24-48 hours on average.
  • Tenderness/pain at the infection sites 1-5 days

 We recommend no major events (weddings/pictures etc) for at least 2 weeks after any dermal filler.

Post treatment instructions:

  • Ice the treated area frequently for the first 12-24 hours.
  • Do NOT massage the treated areas.
  • Can resume normal skincare routine.
  • You can take Tylenol for discomfort, no NSAID products (Advil/Ibuprofen/Alleve) for 2 days post procedure.
  • No make up until the next day.

Travel:
If you are traveling more than one hour from the clinic within 48 hours post treatment, you must discuss this with your practitioner prior to your appointment.
