Kybella is an FDA approved procedure using deoxycholic acid which is a naturally occurring product in our body to dissolve unwanted submental fat. Kybella involves a series of injections under the chin in the submental fat region of the upper neck. We inject in a strategic fashion and Kybella typically requires up to three sessions to achieve desired results depending on severity of adipose tissue. The destruction of fat cells is permanent Our Kybella appointments are one hour long and patients can expect to have immediate swelling to the area that can last 2-4 weeks. It is important to plan ahead for swelling. Off label uses for Kybella also include stubborn fat to axilla (under arms), abdomen and back.
